Wearing steel spikes while trimming or pruning will pierce tree bark and puncture vital tree tissue. Open wounds can lead to sap ooze and allow entry for decay causing fungi and wood-boring insects (especially pines). Northern Arborist uses alternative methods to ascend and climb that comply with industry standards. These modern tequniques ensure that the best possible care is taken.
We have all necessary licenses for our area, and we carry insurance for all of our projects.
We are happy to email you proof of our insurance specific to you and your property, prior to any work being done.
Dormant-season between fall and spring is the best time to prune trees such as Oak. Pruning them during the wrong time can cause Oak Wilt which is spread by pests that are attracted to fresh cuts in the wood. However, there are trees that are best pruned in mid-summer such as Maple, Birch, and Walnut. These trees typically ooze sap, so it's best to prune them when they have less sap flowing and have sufficient time to heal.
